Monika lives in Germany and is a civil engineer, having worked in  the construction and maintenance industry for 20 years. When diagnosed with melanoma, she had the opportunity to change to a government paid job at a vocational school. She is very glad she did that, because she now has a lot of social benefits and won't be terminated.

One of her hobbies is classical music. Eight years ago she started playing piano. She is 
very proud that she managed to learn playing a Bach fugue with three voices (which she 
forgot under interferon!).

She also likes culturally oriented vacation throughout Europe to intensify her knowledge 
of art history.

Monica, one of the most beloved of the MPIP family,  passed away on May 8, 2006.
